The Author is an environmental scientist with 20 years professional experience. At her "real" job, the author assesses environmental impact. Her area of expertise is the terrestrial ecology of the Southeastern United States and Caribbean. She has worked with government, non-governmental organizations and the private sector and has developed national environmental standards and a national environmental educational curriculums. Most recently, she developed a standardized vegetation classification for a Caribbean country and with associates, prepared a detailed habitat map of the entire country.
She is the published author of several books and articles on natural history. She lives in the beautiful Appalachian mountains where she grows her own food and enjoys the company of her family and an assortment of dogs, cats, ferrets and fowl.
